A contemporary romance involving two people at the start of their careers, falling in love while aiming for promotion and combatting underhand dealing. Laurent is told that the grandfather who was financing his career couldn’t really afford it and needed the money paid back. His future in ruins, he arrives in Brittany with neither money nor prospects and is soon in trouble. Jeanne has worked hard and imaginatively for her career success, but then has to fight of the challenge from a man who saw himself as the better candidate. But as Laurent is helped into a career path by the long-lost cousins he discovers in Brittany, he needs Jeanne’s assistance to counteract academic skulduggery.
